Thank you for visiting our new website!  Let me take a moment to tell you a little about myself.  I am a born and raised ‘Smithereen” and have lived here in Smithers for most of my life.   I can tell you Smithers is a great place to live and to raise a family!  Below is a brief resume.

I started my Real Estate career in 1990 with in Richmond with Century 21 and later with Sutton Group.  After about 6 years, my young family and I decided to we wanted the small town life style and Smithers was calling. In February of 1996, I joined the REMAX Bulkley Valley sales team.

Currently I reside in rural Smithers with my spouse (Sarah) and my younger daughters (Grace & Ellie). Laura & Nikki are my older daughters, who have relocated to the Victoria area for their post-secondary schooling. We enjoy the outdoor recreation that Smithers offers, we ski the Hudson Bay Mountain, enjoy hiking and fishing and I curl weekly at the local curling club.  The girls enjoy various local activities,  4-H & hobby farm life.

Real estate has strong ties with both Sarah and myself.  Sarah is my unlicensed assistant and can be credited for, among other things, helping me to create a strong website and social media presence.  Her step father, Charlie,  has also been real estate agent since 1994 and my father John Lapadat was a local Realtor from 1970 to the early 2000’s.  My wife and I have been around the real estate world for most of our lives!

2016 will be my 20th year of serving the wonderful people of the Beautiful Bulkley Valley communities. Every year I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life from  first time buyers to retirees.  I market and sell all classes of Real Estate from in town residential to rural, farms, lots and acreage, condos, recreational and commercial.  I cover all of the areas in and around the Smithers/Bulkley Valley including Smithers, Telkwa, Hazelton, the Kispiox Valley and more.

My job is to do everything possible to provide you with all the resources and information you require to help you make good decisions. Once we decide to work together, I will do everything I can to help you find with the new home you've been dreaming of!

Education

After high school and a year of community college in Prince George I worked in construction for a few years,  did some world travel and then moved to the lower mainland where I graduated from BCIT in the mid-1980’s with a Diploma in Marketing.

Employment History

After high school and a year of community college in Prince George I worked in construction for a few years,  did some world travel and then moved to the lower mainland where I graduated from BCIT in the mid-1980’s with a Diploma in Marketing.

After BCIT I spent some enjoyable years working with a couple of large national firms.  Daisyfresh Creations, a ladies undergarment company, I was a manufacturers key account representative.  Nationally, I was rookie of the year my first year and runner up to salesman of the year the following year.  Then I moved to lighting with GTE Sylvania where I was also a successful manufacturers rep and lighting consultant to retailers, distributors, contractors owners and engineers. 

Then I decided that I really wanted to be my own boss.  So enrolled in the Real Estate course and studied hard and really enjoyed it too.  I ended up getting the second highest mark out of 1193 candidates that wrote the exam (normally I’m was an average student but I really like Real Estate)!  Over the years I have received all sorts of awards but they really mean nothing compared to the reward I feel in helping people achieve their real estate dreams!
